The Merchant's Alley

My first take on a stylized environment in Unreal!

I always wanted to create a stylzed, fantasy medieval street with shops and tall houses, thick vibrant rooftiles and cobblestones.
Wayfinder Art was one of my main references, however I didn't want to put too much detail into the sculpts and let the painterly textures have a word as well. I also wanted to sculpt and stretch my bake muscles so I created more than I really needed.

I didn't want to stumble blindly into this so I asked Kem Yaralioglu for some mentorship. Knowing that I could blindly trust his advice whether I was on a good path or not helped massively to stay on track, especially because this project required me to learn plenty new software and workflows.

I wanted to create the brickwall textures in Designer, however I decided to utilize those of Free Stylized, an amazing resource for stylized Designer Files instead. I also utilized Jimmy Malachiers amazing Ghibli bricks. All textures went through some editing in Designer to make sure it all fits together and has the rough medieval feel.

Viktoriia Zavhorodnia's tutorials about stylized foliage were insanely helpful and exactly what I always wanted to try!
